Spring / Summer Trends 2016
When it comes to trends, I'm the sort of person who loves to see what styles are coming in, but I'm usually about a month or two behind... Typical me! However, recently I have been taking more of an interest as to what this year's fashion is going to bring, and I thought I'd share it with you.
As far as I can see, so far there has been seven top trends which have stood out from the various fashion designers. The first one being silky/slip dresses and tops. The reason for this is because you will be able to just throw on one of these simple tops / dresses and it will make people think that you've actually made an effort when realistically it's taken you only ten minutes!
As a lot of you will have noticed by now, the 70s are back and in full swing. And for this spring and summer, it looks like it's not going anywhere! With the bell shaped sleeves, to the flared trousers and the platform boots, all the shops will have something from that era!
Ruffles - yes, this does seem to be the time where we are going to jump back to the Victorian times but apparently it's what the designers are loving! Whether it be on tops, skirts or dresses, ruffles are going to be all over!
Unless you have walked around with your eyes shut, the 'cold shoulder' trend is still going. Personally, I don't really like the look of those tops/dresses but then again, I've never tried one on so who knows! It seems to be that if you're not one for showing off your stomach or cleavage, then this style would be perfect for you as you are showing a bit of skin, but being conservative at the same time!
Plaid, tartan, checks or gingham - whichever one you want, 2016 will be full of it. If you're the sort of person who isn't really interested in fashion, and likes to be comfy then this will be right up your ally! Comfy, oversized check shirts will be your strong point. If you're feeling brave, go for a brighter colour or a different pattern!
As it gets into the hotter weather, the winter jackets will be getting locked away and the search for a lighter jacket will begin. Bomber jackets are back! These have been around for years, and I'm sure that at least one member of your family will have owned one at some point! Whether you want to go bold or stay simple, the choice is yours.
And last but not least, I'm going to call it personal expression. Because no matter who you are, you have your own likes and dislikes, and you must remember not to be pressured into trying to keep up with the ever changing face of fashion. Wear what you want, how you want to and just feel comfortable in your own skin. Here is some ideas of my personal style...
